DIPLOMA

Students who successfully complete the 100 hour program and pass both a written and a practical exam will receive a proficiency certificate. The practical exam involves designing and making four floral arrangements. The arrangements are scored on a point system with 100 points being the top score. To pass the practical exam the student must score 60 points. The written exam tests floral and floral product Identification, industry knowledge, floral design knowledge , floral pricing and flower shop procedures. The exam consists of identification, multiple choice and essay questions. To pass the written exam the student must score 60 points out of a possible 100 points. Students who do not pass one or both exams may make arrangements with the Program Director to take a makeup exam at the Director's discretion. A re-take exam must be taken in a subsequent scheduled exam session.

Classroom training is presented in sections consisting of both theory and practical sections. The theory section make up 25% of the program and the practice section make up 75% of the program.

 


Grading scale:
A = 85 -100
B = 75 - 84
C = 60 - 74
D = 50 - 59

Make-up classes:

If due to illness or unforeseen emergency a student find it necessary to repeat a class or make-up a class, the student can make such request with the program director providing the student show proof to substantiate their claim.
